Hello! Welcome!
I would like to begin by thanking Karen Valentine of My Desert Cottage for hosting this wonderful gathering of creative souls sharing where they create. Karen generously hosts Where Bloggers Create each and every year blessing us all. Thank you, Karen!
My creative space used to be our dining room. Although my husband and I enjoy entertaining we only used our dining room on Christmas Day. The rest of the year it was my room filled with my stuff because I could work in there with no need to put things away - not until Christmas Eve anyway. One day my kind and handsome husband said to me, "Would you like to make that room your studio?" and then this kind and handsome man helped me to do so. He always makes my dreams come true!
So come on in, and let me show you around.
I have two entrances to my room. One is from our foyer and the other from our kitchen. This is from the foyer entrance. |
This is from the kitchen entrance. I never removed the chandelier because I like it and because I am short and I don't hit my head on it. My 6'3" husband, however, does every time. |
I also have some outside areas I can work from when the weather is nice. This green chair is my favorite place to read. I will probably be visiting your blog while sitting right here. |
This
outdoor space is wonderful too! It is right outside the doors of my studio. For
some reason no one ever looks for me out here, so when I need a little alone
time this is where I go.
|
Come on in the room, and I will show you some of my favorite things!
This
is just a simple wooden tray that I picked up at Target. I love it for my small
projects. I can carry it outside or from room to room.
|
See that sweet little lamb. He is
so very soft. I picked him up at Kings Supermarket.
|
A work in progress. I am participating in Vicki's Kindness Quilt project. Each of my
knitted squares is 6" x 6" and that knitted lavender was supposed to
fit on just one square. I am sure I will use that one somewhere.
|
I realize that I didn't tell you what I create. You've probably figured it out by now. I am a knitter, crocheter and needle felter.
This is just some of my stash. |
Some more stash. |
I
keep my roving and beads in jars because I think they look so pretty. I have
been asked, "Oh, what are you canning?" "Wool!"
|
Two more treasures and I will send you off to visit others.
I have four children. They are 27 years old. Yep, all four of them. They are quadruplets - 3 girls and 1 boy. My birthday was in June and this is what they gave me as a gift. It's hard to read. It is a day in NYC visiting yarn shops and knitting in Bryant Park. We plan to go at the end of the summer when the weather is cooler. It will be a girl trip. My son is willing to pitch in some money, but he is not too interested in knitting. |
Finally, this is a picture by Mary Engelbreit that I have hanging in my studio. I think it is good advice |
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you come again.
With gratitude,
Terry
Hi Terry! Only your first two photos are showing for me. I'm not sure why!
ReplyDeleteOh Terry ~ I just loved seeing where you create and what a lovely space it is.
ReplyDeleteI think of you often when I move my sweet 'JOY' pillow from the bed. I wondered how you are doing and what you are doing, as I'd not seen any posts from you in quite sometime. It is so nice to see your creative space and it inspires me.
Love and hugs to you dear heart ~ FlowerLady
Quadruplets! You are the very first Mom of Quads I have now met! *smiles* And how Sweet that your DH helped to Create your Creative Sanctuary with you, it turned out Lovely! The Organization is impressive too and has Inspired me since I tend to be quite messy and disorganized... I'm trying to wrangle my Organized Chaos into a semblance of Order in our New Home... and Create a New Studio Space that is more functional because I would finally be able to locate things more easily! *winks* Thank you for taking us on the Tour of your Creative Sanctuary... Blessings from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian
ReplyDeleteHi Terry, I could see all of your lovely photos. I love Mary Engelbreit wisdom ;) Your space is lovely and well organized--a joyful place to create! Blessings, Cecilia
ReplyDeleteGreat wide open space, so beautiful and wonderfully organized!
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Terry! Ah, what a joy to pop in for a visit and see your lovely creative space. How nice to have so much natural light shining in :) And that little lamb is darling!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend. Hugs!
Wow... kindred spirits here. I can just breath in all that lovely fresh air, visualizing you relaxing on your beautiful chaise, just outside those magnificent windows! Lucky like you, my hubby also supports my crafting studio.
ReplyDeleteLove you space! And I'll be back soon!
Sweet blessings, Chris
Quadruplets! WOW! Never 'talked' with anyone who had 4 at one time! Nice gift from them though, hope you have fun! Your space is totally cozy! LOVE that you can go outside to relax too. Thinking of making something for that quilt project too... Hugs!
ReplyDeleteso much of what I love and those french doors and windows are to die for!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you live in a beautiful area! How wonderful to look out at all that green and trees, it looks so peaceful.
ReplyDeleteI am an "out of site, out of mind" person too. Great idea to have things out where you can see it.
What a creative and thoughtful gift from your kids! That will be a fun day. :)
I really loved checking out your space, it's always fun to see what others do and the space they create for themselves.
Thank you for coming by my blog. :) I still have your blog in my reader from "Grow Your Blog last year! I hope you will blog again soon!
Have a blessed weekend Terry!
As I read your comment on my blog, I realized I needed to update my profile. I now have been married for 38 years and our 27th grandchild will be coming in a couple of weeks. How exciting and rare to have had quadruplets. I do know something about multiples, as I had twins and my sister had triplets. They are all grown up now and my twins are married with children of their own. I feel like you are a kindred spirit. Thanks for your sweet comments on my blog, and I can tell you that when the grandparent thing happens to you, you will know the great joy that it truly is.
ReplyDeleteWow, I think your studio is wonderful, Terry! Quadruplets....OMG! I have twin granddaughters (almost 17), and they were quite the handful as toddlers. I cannot even imagine 4 little people! Now they have boyfriends, and I long for those busy toddler years....so does my daughter!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like such a fun trip you and your daughters are planning. I'm guessing you must have passed on your love of yarn to each of them. I am fairly new to crochet, but I've been trying to make up for lost time, I think! I got really hooked this past year, as a way to keep myself busy during hours of chemo. Plus, I needed to make cute things for my bald noggin!
I think your studio is amazing, and I love the French doors! I would have kept the chandy, too, and would never bump into it....lol! Thanks so much for sharing your delightful space and your creativeness!
Happy Weekend!
Carol
Hi Terry, what a wonderful space and the view is to die for.
ReplyDeleteYour outdoor space looks very inviting and peaceful!
Thanks for sharing,
have a great weekend!

HI Terry! Thank you so much for joining the party this year! It's so nice to hear the story of your sweet and supportive hubby! I am a firm believer in using the rooms in your home in a way that works best for you!!! I imagine a lot of women only use their dining rooms once or twice a year and now they are re-thinking that situation!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty creating space.Your green chair is calling me!! Quadruplets..I too think you are amazing.A Special Ed teacher too. that's gotta be a challenge.I used to do private tutoring of Dyslexic kids, but only one on one.
ReplyDeleteI find most of my lasting friends are teachers. They are usually very Giving sorts of people. Teachers and Nurses!!I'm a new follower. I am having renovations done so not able to participate this year, but have some pics of my space on my blog.
Cheers
Judy
What a lovely Studio and outside spaces! Wow, with your Quadruplets I bet you've had an interesting life! Could write a book right?
ReplyDeleteYou've a beautiful room, Terry. I am little jealous of your groundfloor location with access to the outside, I'm up two flights of stairs, It's my husband who sorted my room too, though he'd have the same problem with your light as your husband does.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine what it'd be like to have quadruplets, I don't have any, but you've obviously brought them up well, your birthday present must be a dream one for you. I hope you share pictures when you go yarn shop exploring! Thanks for showing us around 💜
Hi Terry! Gotta say that you are blessed! A hubby who helped make your craft space a reality, and wonderful children who love their mother and know her so well! Your space is lovely...the light is wonderful from that window! And I love the jars of wool all pretty colors sitting on the shelf! So glad you joined the party! Thank you for sharing your space with us! Hugs! Doni
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful of your hubby to help you transform you DR to your Studio! YaY for supportive Hubby!! Love the gift you children gave you - you'll have a wonderful time! Happy Creating! Cindy
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely room and how sweet of your husband to help make it into your studio permanently! I just moved, and I live in an apartment, but it has a small dining room that I will be using for my craft space. I live alone and figured I didn't need a table as much as I need to craft. . . Lol! How exciting that you will be heading to NYC for your Mom's trip! I live in GA now, but I come from NY and love the city. You will have a blast! Thanks for sharing the beautiful spaces you create in and the beautiful tools you use to create.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely space! I love the french doors and all of the beautiful light!
ReplyDeleteCathy ♥
Knitting in Bryant Park...you know, I have never done that although I have visited often. Especially the Winter Holiday Shops that are set up in December. As a fabric artist, I haven't really visited any yarn shops in NYC. You'll have to tell us the ones you like. My friend got into felting last year and loves it. She makes purses and containers and even landscapes. I saw you had a collection of roving, so how do you use the roving? Thanks for opening up your studio. I love the idea that you can either enjoy the outside from a comfy chair or actually sit outside. Being in an apartment in NYC, I don't have that luxury.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing your space! love all the windows/light you have~
ReplyDeletesounds like a great trip you'll be taking-
Oh, what a gorgeous chair to sit and read blogs from! I love your choice of indoor and outdoor spaces to create and sit. Beautiful light windows and a nice polished timber floor, too. Love it :)
ReplyDeleteJesse
That is a really pretty crafting area! Looks nice and comfy, and I'll bet that helps with the creative process. Thank you for the tour.
ReplyDeleteCathy
Good for you taking over your Dining ROom that you seldom used and making it your space! It is such a great creative space!! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Deb
Hello my beautiful friend..
ReplyDeleteYour room is to die for!! Oh my gosh!! That window is amazing/ so much beautiful natural light. You can watch the seasons change while you craft!! Everything is beautiful and so organized (so totally jealous of that- lol!) it's a truly lovely space.
Love
Vicki
Dear sweet Terry ~ I looked at my lovely 'joy' pillow from you the other day and wondered where you are and what you are doing. What a treat to see two comments from you on my blog.
ReplyDeleteYou will like Blogging for Books. I have a nice collection of books now that I got from them for reading the books and writing up a review and posting it on my blog.
Looking forward to seeing a blog post from you and I hope all is well with you and your family.
