Making My Life Easier

DSC00872

I need reading glasses. I am a reading teacher School, a knitter, a writer, and all these things require me wearing my glasses. So many of my daily activities require me wearing my glasses. The only thing I can do without my glasses is drive, Auto but I still need them in the car to read anything on the dashboard.

I got tired of always saying, “Where are my glasses? Has anybody seen my glasses?” My family and my students got tired of always looking for my glasses. One day, one of my students said, “Mrs. Lummer, why don’t you wear your glasses around your neck?” I replied, “Because it will make me look old.” My student replied in the kindest of voices, “It won’t make you look old.”

So, I started to wear my glasses. It certainly does make my life easier. I never have to look for my glasses. They are always there waiting for me. And guess what? When I take my glasses off, I don’t look younger. I am very thankful for my students. They teach me something everyday. Red heart

Love, Terry (aka, Mrs. Lummer)

  1. Hi Terry! Nice to meet you! I so need to find a chain for my glasses. I am getting worse and worse at setting them down some where and totally forgetting where I left them! Thank you for dropping by my blog and I hope you are having a wonderful day!

  2. Terry, I am right there with you...I need those reading glasses. I now have 2 pair so I don't have to run upstairs and down all the time looking for them.

  3. Terry,
Thanks for stopping by. I am now a follower and thank you for following me. I grew up in New Jersey many years ago. I have not been back although my 50th HS reunion is in the fall.

I love the glasses "necklace" story. I have 6 or 7 pairs and they usually end up in one place.

I am off to the knitting store for a day of knitting and conversation with my peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and 2 pair of glasses!

  4. Hi and thank you for your lovely comment on my felted robins tutorial! I answered your question in the comments on that post, so others could read the answer. In short, my felting needles aren't damaged at all by the styrofoam ball. :) Thanks for dropping by, regards from another wearer of glasses! :)

  5. Terry you are not alone when it comes to forgetting where we kept our glasses. Just like your student, my neighbour's daughter gave me the suggestion to 'chain up' mine. But I keep a separate pair in car just in case I forget while going out.

  7. I reluctantly started using reading glasses about the time I turned 50. After a few years I decided it would be easier just to wear them all the time because I needed them in the car, too. So I got the graduated lenses. I discovered a wonderful thing! Not only do I not need to wear mascara any more since you can't see my eyes as well, but they hide the circles under my eyes! I'm still trying to find the right frame for my face, though, and was disappointed when I didn't need a new prescription this year so I could justify getting new glasses. C'est la vie...

  8. Oh, I relate to this...I never could get used to wearing a chain around my neck, though. Glad it's working for you. And I agree with Cathy...I think it does help minimize the circles under my eyes! Thanks for sharing. Happy Valentine Pink Saturday!! ~Lorraine ♥♥♥
